What Personal Data We Collect And Why We Collect It

This website may collect your personal information from time to time, in order to fulfill purposes requested by the users of the website. You may purchase digital downloads, join the Practice Sessions Membership program, respond to a survey, fill out a form, sign up for newsletters and read and comment on the content provided on the blog.

Horselistening takes a consent-based approach to the collection, use and disclosure of personal information. You will opt in to any of our products or services, and we will ask for your consent before we collect any personal data.

We may collect information such as email address, name, address, and phone number to fulfill purchase or download orders, or to improve our products and services. We use PayPal as our payment platform and therefore no credit card or payment information is stored on this website. Click here to see PayPal's Privacy Policy.

You have complete free access to the blog content without having to provide any personal information whatsoever.

Blog Comments

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

We collect information about visitors who comment on Sites because we use Akismet anti-spam service. The information we collect typically includes the commenter's IP address, user agent, referrer, and Site URL (along with other information directly provided by the commenter such as their name, username, email address, and the comment itself). Click here to see Akismet's (Automattic) Privacy Policy.

Gravatar Hovercards: This feature will send a hash of the user’s email address (if logged in to the site or WordPress.com — or if they submitted a comment on the site using their email address that is attached to an active Gravatar profile) to the Gravatar service (also owned by Automattic) in order to retrieve their profile image.

Contact Forms

You may use contact forms to request a product or service, connect with Kathy by email, or request technical help for a website feature. All information shared in the contact forms is stored on the website's email host only for the duration of time that it is needed.

Data Used:  Akismet is enabled on the site, and the contact form submission data — IP address, user agent, name, email address, website, and message — is submitted to the Akismet service (also owned by Automattic) for the sole purpose of spam checking. The actual submission data is stored in the database of the site on which it was submitted and is emailed directly to the owner of the form (i.e. the site author who published the page on which the contact form resides). This email will include the submitter’s IP address, timestamp, name, email address, website, and message.

Data Synced (?): Post and post meta data associated with a user’s contact form submission. If Akismet is enabled on the site, the IP address and user agent originally submitted with the comment are synced, as well, as they are stored in post meta.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

Cookies help us analyse which pages are viewed more often or not. Cookies do not give us access to your computer or any personal information. Any data obtained is data you choose to share with us.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select "Remember Me", your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

Embedded Content From Other Websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Analytics

This website uses an analytics package, Jetpack, from WordPress.org. Click here for their Privacy Policy. The purpose of the information collected is to track unique and total visitors to the website pages.

We may record information relating to your use of the Site, such as the searches you undertake, the pages you view, your browser type, IP address, requested URL, referring URL, and timestamp information. We use this type of information to administer the Site and provide the highest possible level of service to you. We also use this information in the aggregate to perform statistical analyses of user behavior and characteristics in order to measure interest in and use of the various areas of the Site.

Who We Share Your Data With

We share your data with financial transaction processors and email communication hosts. These third parties are prohibited from utilizing, sharing or retaining your personal data for any purpose other than we dictate.

How Long We Retain Your Data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

Data obtained through emails, forms and other sources are kept only as long as they are needed for record keeping, to improve our products and services:

Newsletter: 5 years

Practice Sessions: 1 year or as long as you are a member

Transactions: 6 years for tax auditing purposes

Pre-Launch Waiting List: up to 3 years or less if the Pre-Launch occurs in a shorter time period

You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

How we protect your data

We use a secure server to store the information you give us when you register or complete forms. Your data may also be stored on third-party secure platforms for payment processing and email hosting.
